- 1. Scope of trainingdoing useful components and wherever possible, job order work in addition to selected graded exercises. The Institute aims at maintaining high standards for which honest efforts on the part of the trainee are necessary, He has to take and active part in the learning and practicing process by showing devotion to work and regular attendance. Only through such co-operation and hard-work the training can be a success. To supplement the subject matters taught in the classes, the students are expected to work through their notes and text books carefully. Only with regular daily studies could one derive the maximum benefit of the theory taught. Class tests and practical tests are held periodically. Progress Cards are issued to students showing their assessments for their information as well as that of their Parents/Guardians. Weekly assessment also is done based on the following 5 criteria: i) Responsibility towards the Tools, Machinery and the work allotted. ii) Industry, diligence – Accuracy and speed. iii) Attendance, Appearance, Regularity, Punctuality, Maintenance of uniforms, etc. iv) Cleanliness, Order-Cleanliness of work place and machine allotted. v) Conduct-Obedience and sincerity to learn.0
- 2. Training and Certificatea) The Duration of the Course is 2 years (4 Semesters), normally starting from Ist August each year. b) Those who successfully complete the training will be awarded a Certificate in Mechanical Craftsmanship by the Institute. However, to be eligible for this Certificate the trainee should have attained the minimum of standard expected of him, viz., 40% in theory subjects and 60% in practicals and also should have put in a minimum attendance of 80% of the total working days. For the issue of the Certificate, shortage of attendance will not be condoned except in exceptional cases for the reason of sickness of a long duration on one occasion but in any case the minimum attendance should not be less than 80 percent. c) The Institute is affiliated to the National Council for Vocational Trades under the Ministry of Labour and Employment of the Government of India. Thus those who successfully undergo the training in the Institute and fulfil the attendance and other requirements specified by the NCVT are eligible to appear for the All India Trade Tests. Under the present rules of NCVT, the Final Trade Test will be held at the end of the second year of training. National Trade Certificates in the trade Fitter will be awarded to the successful candidates. d) The medium of instruction is English. The training imparted is broadbased and intensive. During the two years the trainees learn bench fitting including basic forging, sheet metal work and welding. They also learn machine work on lathe and shaping machine and are given and introduction on milling machine. After completion of the Course a trainee will be able to work as a machine-operator, turner, shaper, fitter and general mechanic in any of the industries. e) Because of the nature of the training, the number of seats available are limited. (around 60)0
- 3. Holidays and VacationsThe Institute working timings is from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. on all the Six days of a week. Second Saturday & Sunday are holidays. One and a half day per week will be utilized for theoretical lessons, the other time being spent in the Workshops on practical training. The national, state and other holidays observed by the Institute are announced in advance by the Principal. As per the ITI pattern there are no vacations for the Institute which will be working throughout the year. Punctual and regular attendance is insisted upon.0
- 4. LeaveIn addition to the Holidays mentioned above, a trainee is permitted the following leave : a) Emergency leave : 12 days in a year spread out at the rate of 1 day in a month.0
- 5. LibraryA library is maintained for the use of the students. Besides technical books which are useful for the trainees in their studies, there are also other books for general reading during holidays and leisure time.0
- 6. Application for admissiona) The form of application for admission could be had from the Institute on payment of Rs. 100/- in person or Rs. 150/- by Money Order or Postal Order. b) Eligibility : i) Age limits : 15 to 40 years as on Ist August of the year of application. ii) Educational qualification : A pass in S.S.L.C. or its equivalent, preferably with a minimum of 40 percent in Mathematics. iii) Physical fitness : The candidate should be physically fit and free from contagious diseases. 5 6 iv) Habits : The candidates should not be addicted to either smoking or taking alcoholic drinks. Those who do not fulfil these conditions need not apply. c) Filled in application form should be submitted to the Institute before the last date mentioned there on together with a Registration Fee of Rs. 100/-. The completed form should be accompanied by true-copies of certificates in support of the age and marks scored in the S.S.L.C. Examination, Caste Certificate & Study Certificate. (Minimum 5 years of study in Karnataka State).0
- 7. AdmissionSelected candidates should hand over the Transfer and Conduct Certificate from the Institution last attended and the S.S.L.C. and other certificates in original before admission to the Institute. These will be returned to the student only when he leaves the Institute at the end of the Course and after settlement of all his dues.0
- 8. DiscontinuanceA student who discontinues the course before the completion of the training is liable to pay a compensation equal to the Training fees for the remaining period of 2 years training in full.0
- 9. Local GuardianBefore the student is admitted to the Institute, the parents of every student should nominate a responsible resident of Mangalore to be the boy’s Local Guardian, who will accept the full responsiblility for the boy’s good conduct and character. If during the course of training the local guardian so nominated resigns from his guardianship, the student will have to arrange for a substitute within a reasonable time failing which he may not be allowed to attend the classes till a guardian is appointed.0
- 10. General Rules1. All trainees should aim at conducting themselves according to the highest standards of manners and discipline. 2. An important feature of our training is dignity of labour. No job is considered beneath one’s dignity. Hence the students must be prepared to do hard physical work as the nature of the training demands. This will also include maintaining the work place and machinery clean, handling of tools, materials and work pieces. 3. During instruction time no student shall leave the work-shop or class-room without the permission of the instructor or lecturer. 4. During practical instruction the students should wear their own uniform prescribed by the Institute. It is the responsibility of the students to maintain their uniforms neat and clean. 5. Trainees are not allowed to undertake any work other than what is given by their instructor. 6. The students should strictly follow the safety regulations and the Institute shall not be held responsible for any injuries or disablement caused due to non-observance of those regulations by them. 7. For damages to any property of the Training Institute caused by a student by negligence, willfulness or by disobeying orders or rules the student is fully liable and he or his parents (or guardian) has to pay for them. Besides, damages on account of such reasons may lead to immediate dismissal from the Institute. 8. Punctual and regular attendance is insisted upon as it is essential for good progress in studies and conducive to the formation of character. 9. Applications in writing for any leave shall be made in advance to the principal or his representatives stating the period of leave applied for. Absence without permission will be treated as misconduct and further disciplinary action taken in case of repetition. 10. In case of illness a medical certificate issued by a doctor has to be produced whenever it is possible or is required the Principal. 11. A student who does not secure the minimum attendance of 80% required for the training course will not be eligible to appear for the All India Trade Test. Further he will not be entitled to the Certificate issued by the Institute. 12. Irregular attendance and neglect of studies and such willful acts of misbehaviour as obscenity in words or deeds and subversive conduct will be taken serious notice of and punished with severity. 7 13. In case any student shows unsatisfactory performance or conduct during the time of his studies in spite of verbal reprimand, a warning in writing will be given to him and a copy sent to his parents or guardian. In severe cases or at recurrence of the same or a similar offence, the student will be suspended or dismissed from the Institute. The student will have no claim for a refund of fees paid. 14. Unless permitted by the Principal no student shall become a member of any club, association, union or the like. 15. No student shall play in any team against the Institute team, and no student shall be an active member in other teams without the permission of the Principal. 16. The trainee should not be addicted to smoking or taking alcoholic drinks, smoking and consuming alcohol, chewing of Tobacco, within the Institute and its premises is strictly prohibited. 17. The trainee is bound by the aforesaid Rules and Regulations of the Institute which may be amended from time to time to suit exigencies. The trainee and his parent or guardian will have to give an undertaking to this effect before his being admitted to the Institute. 18. In continuation of restricting mobile phone usage in classes and workshops, Hebich Technical Training Institute has banned students from using mobile phones in the Institute premesis from 7.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. during all working days. The restriction includes lunch break time also. In case of voilation of the rules, seized phones will be returned only after the completion of studies. Repeated violation leads to termination. In an emergency, students will be allowed to use the office phone free of cost. 19. Students are expected to keep decency and decorum in their dress and behaviour. Students shall compulsorily wear the prescribed college uniform on all working days. Parents are to see that the uniform, hairstyle and clean shave of their wards are in tune with modesty and dignity. 8 20. Students shall not use the emblem/Photo and videos of teh college in the transaction of the social media Facebook, WhatsApp etc. 21. The college campus and classrooms should always be kept neat and clean. Students should see that no damage is done to college property including plants and trees in the campus. 22. Discourtesy towards any member of the staff or any act, which affects the discipline and tone of the college, will be seriously viewed and in extreme cases they are sufficient reason for dismissal from college. Immorality, grave insubordination, contempt for authority, wilful damage to college property, malpractice in examinations etc., are sufficient reason for immediate dismissal. 23. Tools damaged due to negligence will be fined.0
- 11. FeesTuition and other fees are fixed by the Management from time to time, other special fees to be paid at the time of admission to the Institute. No Stipend, Scholarship or Freeship is awarded by the Institute. Fees payable are subject to change from time to time.0
- 12. Requirements from the studentsApart from the Text Books, Note Books and other stationery as may be required during the course of studies. The trainee should also arrange for the following for his use during the training, as per specifications prescribed by the Institution. (i) Uniform and foot-wear (ii) Vernier Calipers (iii) Drawing Instruments (iv) Safety Goggles0
- 13. HostelThe Institute does not run any Hostel nor can arrange for the accommodation of the trainees. However they may approach the Warden, KACES Hostel, Balmatta, Mangalore – 575 001 for accommodation there, if available.0
